    If you accept a bad deal and do your part to implement it, because you think it's the only other option to prevent a worse deal being implemented, you do whatever you can to fix what you did.

    Regardless of whether Clinton actually traded DOMA for avoiding a bigotry amendment, or in exchange for something else, he is taking his chance now to help remove DOMA. It's not undoing the decades of oppression he signed rather than veto. It's not a Constitutional Amendment adding sexual orientation to our definition of inalienable rights to be protected. But it is something. Something he doesn't really have to do.

    Unless he wants to be a part of the long arc of history bending towards justice, rather than away from it. Whatever his reasons, whatever else he might have done, doing this does take us towards justice more than signing DOMA took us away from it.

    I just hope it works.
