  •  Thanks for highlighting this important resource (8+ / 0-)

I work on these kinds of issues in Wyoming and have been following the issues around Nine Mile and writing letters supporting the preservation for years now. One "good" thing -- the preservation community has learned a lot about protecting rock art from this project, lessons that we were recently able to apply to a bentonite project near rock art in northern WY.

and of course, I think I put this diary together a bit too hastily, for I knew about the new treatments given the protection of rocks, though I wasn't aware such methods may have been spawned from the ruination of this very setting, Nine Mile Canyon. So, thank you, kainah, for putting this out to me and to the rest of the community. I love the outdoors and I cherish all archeological settings. I felt I wanted to share the passion with the Daily Kos community, because we are known for spirited networking that can and will make a bigger and better difference in the world, mainly political, but also environmental. I was also hoping the community is tolerant given my somewhat staunch views on protecting the environment, as well as prehistoric and historic anything. This stretch of canyon and its awesome display of glyphs may be, for the time being, out of harm's way, but something in me feels it could easily go the other way. So, with yours and everyone else's awareness focused on this setting I think we can make a big difference assuring the future of Nine Mile Canyon by way of protecting its past and these truly inspiration glyphs. Thank you for posting your insightful comments.
