    Ok, I know that's unfair. However, the predictive value of social science is even lower than that of economics.

    Purely off the top of my head, I'm going to predict that, if populism takes off and people start selecting their own candidates for public office, ALL political parties are going to be perceived as anachronistic. The Republican party is in disarray because it has become home to a bunch of antagonistic instinct-driven people who have only one thing in common -- resistance.
    The Democratic party, meanwhile, can't decide which is more important, democracy or power. Shall they throw real democrats under the bus or shall they revise their agenda to focus their energies on real issues (environment, energy, education, equity), instead of trying to manipulate the electorate.

    We organize governments to deliver services and prevent abuse.
