During Reconstruction, blacks combined with white Unionists formed a majority in every one of the recent Confederate states except Virginia (that largely because mostly white West Virginia was detached from Virginia.)  Black voting suppression became necessary to recreate white rule.  Over the next 75 years, the most horrible counties for voter suppression, lynchings, arbritrary arrests, and overall Jim Crow, were counties with black majorities - and the larger the black majority the worse was the oppression.  By contrast, in white majority counties - particularly in Appalachia, voter suppression and other oppressive measures were relatively relaxed.

On the Dream Act, Maryland voters defeated the Republican referendum that petitoned the law enacted by the state legislature to the ballot.  59% voted for the Dream Act, so it passed easily, but I don't know the racial breaksown of this vote.

where several African American towns were razed and their residents driven into the fields and woods

But, in this particular case, it's beside the point. The question is not in which counties was oppression most rampant--of course that would be the majority-black counties--but in which counties was white support for oppression highest.

I'm not sure what you're arguing with the paragraph about the Dream Act.

Why did a high percentage of us white Marylanders (possibly a majority of Maryland whites, but I don't know) vote for it?  Even in very white exurban Frederick County, which in 2010 elected teabaggers to run the county, it nearly passed 49 to 51 percent.

Nobody is saying white liberals hate Latinos; nobody's even saying a majority of white liberals are racist (being a racist and hating minorities are not the same thing). FFS, I'm a white liberal too.
