    it's certainly important, and I trust their judgement as well. Still, coal power plants are the top source of CO2 and the bigger picture on oil is to reduce consumption from ALL sources.

      good news.

      If Jim Hansen tells you that if the Tar Sands continues to its proposed 8 million barrels a day, it's "game over" then he thinks it is worse than coal. It's killing a carbon sink, it's destroying a source of fresh water for the continent.

      What is this game? When I post about fracking, I get "coal is worse" and about tar sands "coal is worse." As if there is some kind of rule that only the worst possible danger to the climate is worth discussing.

      Tar Sands has surpassed coal in green house gas emissions because of its byproduct pet coke.
