  •  So who is (0+ / 0-)

the "our" you refer to? I have no clue who you're referring to.

I'm generally opposed to theocracies, but I don't live in one. Israel is surrounded by countries which determine and limit the human and civil rights of both non-muslims and muslims alike. I suppose your criticism extends to those countries. Including the recent Arab Spring countries?

    •  Not sure I referred to an "our." (0+ / 0-)

Could you point me to it?

        Our existence as a state (0+ / 0-)
is not predicated on recognizing any of those 25 or so countries as Islamic states.

        End of discussion.

          such a recognition, is it?

We recognize Israel, and Jordan, and Algeria, etc. etc. etc.  We don't recognize them as "Arab states" or "Muslim states" or "Jewish states."  We recognize them as states.

          •  Ok (0+ / 0-)

But how is our existence predicated on recognizing Israel as a Jewish state?

            •  It isn't; and yet somehow, (1+ / 0-)

              Palestine's is.

That's what this is all about.  It's not about retroactively forcing the rest of the world to recognize Israel as "the Jewish state."

    •  I don't see your point: (0+ / 0-)
Israel is surrounded by countries which determine and limit the human and civil rights of both non-muslims and muslims alike. I suppose your criticism extends to those countries. Including the recent Arab Spring countries?
Am I demanding the derecognition of those states? No.
Am I saying those states are beyond and above criticism? No.
