finally seen the actual paper. Mike Hammer! This gives the paper enormously more credibility to me. Mike was (as I'm sure you know, but probably no one else in this diary does - though I'd better look at more comments...), a grad student in the lab where the "African Eve" work was done. He took on the much more technically difficult challenge of working with the Y chromosome.

We all understand that freedom isn't free. What Romney and Ryan don't understand is that neither is opportunity. We have to invest in it.

A sample of the stuff that crossed my desk when I was there: ancient hominin admixture, DNA matching of Holocaust victims with living relatives, gene linkages and asthma, and tons of other really nifty stuff that would probably require a lot of explanation.

(I should mention that my spouse was a postdoc in his lab, while I was a tech)

papers on it. I'll take a look. I'm going to try to have one of my Evolution students work on Y-chromosomal "Adam" and mt-"Eve" for her poster presentation at the end of the term.

is here. Doesn't look like it's been updated since 2011. They were never the best at keeping up their web presence (the haplogroup-a.com site, part of the FTDNA family is a good illustration. I mean, just look at it).

Anyway, Google Scholar is an invaluable resource.

          •  Yeah, I actually found the entire website (0+ / 0-)

at ASU pretty easily. Some great design there!! It looks as though it would be a fun group to work with, if the attitude on the site is any indication :) (example: "Recent escapees") Thanks!
