  •  But who really is fighting tooth and nail (3+ / 0-)

Let's be honest. If environmental groups where fighting tooth and nail we'd be out there disrupting the flow of coal around this country. We'd be disrupting the plants that use it, we'd be disrupting the mining of it. We'd be disrupting the distribution of gas. Blockading gas stations even. But when people do that they get branded as fringe and lectured. The more centrist elements need to step up and support the radicals. There is and has been a well organized direct action movement targeting production and distribution, we need to amplify and protect that movement.

This is a moral issue on par with stopping the holocaust and we keep saying "we need to fight" and not doing anything about it. The government isn't doing any where near enough, it's up to us. It has to be us.

"Accepting" the Keystone pipeline and getting something "green" as a trade-off is a foolish bet.

We should be years into a Manhattan Project or at least an Apollo program looking at everything carbon and we get nice words and the status-quo.

I have to say it: "Leadership" from the White House is sorely lacking.

For Christ's sake, let's help more of our frightened people get through this thing, whatever it is - Kurt Vonnegut on our "faithless custodians of capital"
