  •  What a wonderful post! (11+ / 0-)

    Really enjoyed your diary.

I have no known Irish ancestry (all Norwegian) and made my first visit to the Emerald Isle last "summer". Had a wonderful time in Dublin and a quick tour to the west. Very fascinated by the history and culture.

    Great coffee, as you mention

Great food (at Roly's in Dublin)

    Bunratty Castle

Been to Shannon 5 times in the last 2 years (on business).  Usually stay at the Bunratty Castle hotel, although Limerick is close and a nice city to stay in, especially in the summer.

First Man ! Ask and Embla, wasn't it ?

But you should know the deep ties between Norway and Ireland - wives and slaves raided and brought north, the raiders that stayed and settled in Ireland were not all Danes.

On papers that ask my 'racial' info, I always write 'northern european', cause it's all a mish-mosh over there !

Nuns and Vikings, all the way down.
