  •  Oh yes they did (7+ / 0-)

I KNEW it was legit and recced it.  The recording was clearly Romney.  It was an obvious scoop.  But the diary police here went crazy and troll rated him out of existence.

I feel fine about noting that it was totally paranoid and an unreasonable response from some here, since Kos himself called out the diary police for shutting him down.

      •  I would not characterize (0+ / 0-)

Kos eventually acknowledging that he could understand the skepticism  as "backing down."   He was ballistic and that's a fact. But let's not quibble over details.

In my view, the commentary and response by some people here towards those videos -- and Scott Prouty as we know him now to be -- was rude, paranoid, and embarrassing for this community.   We have our good days, and sometimes, we don't.  This was not an example of good behavior by the community.

Look, there isn't a diary about Bradley Manning that does not get major support here... and what is that about?  Whistleblowing.  What Scott Prouty was doing was acting as a whistleblower... and on behalf of working people.  Ugh.  As I said -- not our finest moment.

        •  It's easy after the fact (0+ / 0-)

to act high and mighty and condemn people. You all don't look as stellar as you think you do. It's easy to say, "oh I would have done the right thing, those other people are so dumb."

Kos did indeed say that he understood people thought they were doing the right thing - and he let it go.

The difference between the Manning and Prouty incidents is that there was no verification that the Prouty tapes were legit, while with Manning it was known it was legit.
