  •  Would it be moot though? Presumably if they win (3+ / 0-)

they can revoke his diploma thereby making any college credits he has by then invalid, right (because without a diploma or GED, his college admission was invalid though the college might not see it that way)?  Just like if they had managed to impeach and convict Clinton even though he was out of office.

    •  I was thinking more that they would request (12+ / 0-)

"special circumstances" for him whereby he constitutes a threat to other students and so has to take his classes alone (in other words make him so miserable he wants to leave) and to find other ways to isolate him.  Administrators have a thousand tricks for taking care of squeaky wheels

    •  Depends on the college (5+ / 0-)

In California, anyone who is 18 or over can attend and earn college credits in community college, regardless whether or not they have a high school diploma or GED, and those credits are transferrable to any college. I like that approach -- gives those who drop out of school but who want to improve their lives later after they've done the necessary maturing. So if dsnodgrass's son enrolled in the local CC what was done on the school district level would have no impact on his college standing.

      •  Though if he went to a university it could cause (0+ / 0-)

all sorts of problems if they decide to retroactively revoke his high school diploma.  Going to a CC for the first two years and transferring is quite a bit cheaper though.
