  •  From one beetle hunter to another, Nice diary! (10+ / 0-)

I completely relate to your sentiments about trying to keep your personal feelings and the actual science separate. I have to admit I haven't been real successful at that.   There are just some things that science hasn't been able to explain, prove, or disprove, up to now anyway, and I have a hard time disbelieving something I have strong feelings about just because no one has figured out a way to do either.  But not  being an actual scientist I guess that's to be expected. I study the world around me because I love nature and  I suspect that most scientists began their careers because they felt the same. But at the same time, I have a high regard and respect for scientists and appreciate the fact that their careers are a result of dedication, discipline, and a life time of hard work. And I realize that even though I've spent a lifetime  enjoying, observing, and studying nature, my knowledge of any one subject  barely registers on the scale in comparison. I'm the proverbial jack of all trades and master of none.

Anyway, loved this diary, and here's a nice repanda for ya. Lot's of these on the sandbars here, but hard to photograph, very skiddish and very fast.
