No, the likes of CNN hire them in order to actively promote their BS.  Til it gets too embarassing for either CNN or the rest of the country.

I also will never forgive CNN for shafting Soledad O'Brien

of the horse. IMO, CNN's first priority is profits and ratings. Same is true of MSNBC and Fox.

People think corporations actually have political beliefs that are more important than their profits.  I'm telling you, they don't. Corporations are not people, contrary to Mitt's dearly held belief.  Corporations aren't people, not even right wing people. Corporations are profit seeking missiles, and their only beliefs center around making more money.

If NBC can do that with MSNBC, by filling a niche---duh, a left answer to FOX could be money making---they'll do so happily. Two words. Bottom. Line.

CNN's problem is that after once being the generic word for cable news, they are now struggling, to say the least. All I can say is they have had a series of the worst marketing and programming people I can think of. I think those people have made very poor decisions about what the American public wants to tune into on cable.  Cable being an entirely different animal than the one half hour of nightly national news.

And believe me, CNN wishes they could figure it out, and it all has very little to do with politics, ironically---much more to do with how do we sell us and our product to the American people.  IOW, CNNs problems aren't too different than Macy's problems. These days there is a point at which "retail news" is a reality.

"A typical vice of American politics is the avoidance of saying anything real on real issues." Theodore Roosevelt.

advertizers.  Think especially of the companies that advertize heavily on news shows:  pharmaceuticals, financial institutions, etc
