  •  Nice to see you! (5+ / 0-)

Question about the new alliance - do you have to be a Democrat? What about progressives who run as Independents or as Green Party, etc? Are you there for them as well?

Just curious. Not trying to get anyone kicked off the site or anything.

    •  We'll make those decisions ona case by case basis. (4+ / 0-)

For example, if a district is such that no actual person who calls themselves a democrat could run and expect to be competitive (say, a very red district), Yes, we'd provide support for an "independent".

As for greens and others, again, it'll have to be case by case. Generally, not, though. Especially if there's a Democrat on the ticket. This is a touchier point for us because there are blue dogs who really are not going to be good for the party or for progress. But we'll evaluate those instances on a case-by-case basis. Many times, especially in local districts, these issues are more intense and party identification is touchy because of old battles and wars and other longstanding ugliness. But the reality is that in certain districts where the more conservative democrats run, they run that way for a reason. And the reason usually is that the democrats there are more conservative.

We're hoping that the television series will help move these and other democrats leftward...The TV show is a unique community-based thing that we think will be a useful tool in reaching our constituencies and bringing home (localizing) the effects of legislation at the federal, state and local levels. Conservative democratic districts, I think, will find this most useful.

      These are great questions!

Good to see you angelajean. What are you working on these day?

I am currently attending classes to help my husband with his next job though the course material will add to my resume as well. I get in a little writing in between classes but not as much as I would like. I'm still keeping a close eye on Military Sexual Trauma and the sexual assault and rape cases that keep hitting the military community.

Glad to hear that your org is open to at least discussing this topic. I feel that if DailyKos were a little more open to this, we could actually pull existing Dems further to the left.
