This is not some heroic David hoping to renew the courage of the Israelites by taking down a Goliath.  This is David hoping to become one of the Philistine's army - and getting pretty badly abused for his troubles.

Were the prize something greater than the chance to wear a large and bright corporate logo on his chest, I might have more sympathy for Carl Long.  However, there are worse things than being side-swiped in a corporate hit-and-run incident - perhpas continuing to knock on the door of the group that now thinks you are not even good enough to sweep out the stables is one of those things.

Nor do I worry about NASCAR.  They make plenty of money, and will continue to make plenty of money as an advertising platform for the likes of Ford, Budweizer, Tide, Home Depot, DeWalt, Subway, Aaron's, Coca-Cola, etc

      with your digression into metaphor.

Seems like a simple story to me: abuse of power.  The fine levy has crippled an independent operator.  Sounds like the kind of cause that people should rally to.

Your last paragraph is completely irrelevant.
