  •  Wow (15+ / 0-)

Saw her perform several times in S.F. throughout the 90's, and she always had the audience in the palm of her hand, at much larger venues than Yoshis. The last time I saw her though, in the late 90's, was a pretty weird show where she went off on a religious tangent for the last half of the show. I figured maybe she had been born again and read somewhere afterward that she had married some guy who was very controlling and was trying to "manage" her career. I heard later she had divorced the guy finally and was back in control of things. Sounds like the fundie church sent her down the wrong path.

Arkansas Traveler is one of the best albums of the 90's- it has songs about racism, women's rights, and other liberal subject matter. Sad to see what she's become.

    •  Yes, I bought the Arkansas Traveler CD &.... (0+ / 0-)

downloaded 4 songs to my iPod. I've been listening to them since I started reading this diary.

I share a birthday with John Lennon and Bo Obama.
