  •  I hope that is the case (12+ / 0-)

I just called them to try to confirm and they are closed on Mondays. If I can verify this, I will post an update. Thanks citisven.

I saw that her upcoming concerts include Santa Monica, Santa Cruz, Novato, and Portland, and I have a feeling those shows are going to be very far from sold out. I could even see some of those venues like Moe's Alley in SC simply canceling her show. It definitely wasn't a good career move on her part, to say the least.

          from SFBG

Yoshi's SF director of marketing and public relations Lisa Bautista answered my call this morning and said she was not there when the incident happened, but she did get a phone call from Yoshi's artistic director Derek Hunter after Shocked's comments. Hunter confirmed they did indeed stop the show. Bautista also got additional comments from people who were present.

In his official statement to Bautista, Hunter said, “This was [Shocked's] third visit to San Francisco...She has never before given any indication that she's racist or homophobic.”

Added Bautista to me, “[Shocked] won't be back.” Bautista also had venues nationwide calling this morning to verify if Shocked made such remarks.

Novato's Hopmonk Tavern sent out a release this afternoon canceling Shocked's scheduled show: “Due to comments made by Michelle Shocked at Yoshi’s in San Francisco last night, March 17, we have decided to cancel our show with Michelle on March 29. Refunds can be made at place of purchase.”

According to this article, venues in Novato,CA, Evanston, IL,and  Boulder, CO,  have canceled. One in Santa Monica will "decide tomorrow".

Another cancellation in Oregon, and one in Seattle.

to have missed this comment. I'm just now catching up. I got caught in a two and a half hour meeting this afternoon and missed much. I appreciate the links. Venues are cancelling on her left and right. She is supposed to go to Europe next and run there thru October. I'll be willing to bet it's been cancelled. I may write a follow-up diary.
