I think most elected officials fear that if they help the homeless get off the street, that their city will become a destination for homeless. So instead of trying to help the homeless, elected officials allow police and others to create an inhospitable environment in the city in hope it will drive out the homeless. I’ve seen it happen in every city I’ve lived in.

in regards to the weakest members of society.  A shelter and residential program in the DFW metroplex is currently attempting to defang that beast via advertising.

My very own sons are involved in that advertisement, as I am formerly homeless, and was a resident of that shelter before becoming employed at this facility.

The shelter also did a media blitz, including spots on network news...and it wasn't the crappy end-of-half hour human interest story either, it was in the Top Stories segment.  Those of you interested in hearing my story may find the broadcast and print versions here.
