  •  Christie is a natural bully. He can't resist. (1+ / 0-)

The Inside Beltway media may not be very ept, but they do know how to push buttons. When/if Christie looks like he'll run for higher office, watch the pirañas of the press. They'll goad him into answering variations on a tiresome theme (tiresome to him) and then getting bellicose and belligerent. He seems unable to contain it.

The GOP base loves that shtick. They just eat it up.

Problem for us is a lot of other people like it too.

And Christie is one of the few who actually is willing to compromise, even a little, on some things, and isn't totally crazy on social issues.

That might kill his chances in the south, but plays well overall.

... totally crazy, but I think Christie's New Jersey persona will override a lot of more acceptable characteristics and positions, and I don't think it comes across well outside Tony Soprano territory.

I'm thinking minorities don't like the "southern sheriff" attitude and he could be a wild card in the eyes of big donors.

But if you're right, I'd rather see him as the GOP's candidate than, say, Marco Rubio, who has broader personal appeal.
