  •  My oncologist thinks every woman should have (3+ / 0-)

a hysterectomy once she has decided to be done having children or not have them. (I'm sure there is a better way to word that.)

But that seems unnatural to me.

Tracy B Ann - technically that is my signature.

    •  In the bad old days, it seems to me (3+ / 0-)

that the uterus was referred to in mainstream gynecology as a "disease-producing organ" that had no purpose once childbearing was done, or forgone. That seems to have been a big part of the rationale for the large numbers of hysterectomies that were done a couple of decades ago.

However, since the women's health movement gained strength, the rate of elective hysterectomies dropped dramatically. Certainly if mine hadn't become so diseased, I'd prefer to have it still.

Better to find out why the increase in repro cancers and then to do something about it than to keep removing organs willy-nilly.

Some DKos series & groups worth your while: Black Kos, Native American Netroots, KosAbility, Monday Night Cancer Club. If you'd like to join the Motor City Kossacks, send me a Kosmail.
