  •  true, but I don't rewatch TMP for plot, characters (7+ / 0-)

I'd be happy to have a version that cuts out most of the dialogue but keeps the special effects sequences intact, kinda like a silent film.  IMO they're the strongest parts of a movie that aspired to 2001, not Star Wars.

I get the arguments against it, but at the end of the day I just don't care.

    •  Thanks, I like the movie. That scene where we're (5+ / 0-)

introduced to the "new" Klingons who try to escape that
"Plasma Energy" (in Spock's words) weapon blew me away at the time. The concept, the premise of the film was original, too, I thought.

      •  The first movie was so-so (4+ / 0-)

Special effects were great, but I though they could have spent a bit more on wardrobe.  They essentially had the same polyester suits like the rather cheaply made TV show.

Thankfully, the next in the series had much better wardrobe choices.

There already is class warfare in America. Unfortunately, the rich are winning.

The producers got it right for Star Trek II and afterwards where the uniforms looked more martial.

though all the Klingons had the same forehead ridges, which was OK since they didn't play a major role. :-)
