  •  Just got my approval last week (9+ / 0-)

This was my third attempt at loan modification, over a 2.5 year period and I just was approved last week.  yay!

My loan is not fanny/freddie so I was declined twice for hamp,  then when harp came through I was approved.

The whole process was obnoxious and I can see why people give up.  I had a co-worker who used to be a lawyer help me through it.  When I first tried to modify I was up to date and they declined.  When I stopped paying my mortgage they reached out to me for modification.  Why they wouldn't work with me in the first place when I was being proactive I will never know.

    •  Ditto my daughter. She'd been trying to refi (8+ / 0-)

for the longest time and finally was able to do so all because of the HARP program - saving her and hubby LOTS of $$ every month and she is (and has been) singing Obama's praises.

So, Shrike, she and hubby will definitely be voting in 2014! They would have voted regardless since they've not missed an election that I know of - and I'm always happy when they vote because they vote for the correct side.

The world is not interested in the storms you encountered, but did you bring in the ship.

I have a home I was forced to rent moving out of state for a job which is not Freddie/fanny either.  I have called multiple times about HARP and the AG settlement but wells Fargo still says I am ineligible.

Are you saying I need to stop paying?

Demand to speak to someone who knows what the real criteria are that would usually be someone in underwriting.

The exact words I used were: "I need to talk to a decisionmaker, not a customer service rep. If you are not a decisionmaker, please refer me to someone who is."

Keep trying. That particular lender will go a far way to try to keep you from being able to use the program, in my experience.
