      ...I don't think that's going to happen.  The S'pore educational system, to be sure, has its own gauntlet of demands every child must run through, especially the PSLE that every sixth grader must take.  But there are a number of ways in which creativity is still nurtured in S'pore schools.  One way is the co-curricular activities (CCA) that schools sponsor, including a number of different music, dance and drama groups.  Another way, which I didn't mention in the diary, are the "enrichment classes" that numerous independent schools provide for children of all ages.  My daughter attends two creative classes every week (in addition to several others involving language study), one in drawing/painting, and another in music performance.  My wife and I encourage our daughter in these pursuits, and we are impressed with the results so far.  I am hopeful, of course, that my daughter will continue these creative activities long after she has gotten through her formal education.
