will become the focus of fascination and lust, right??

I saw on "Antiques Road Show" a 1900-era beer advertising poster, illustrating a smiling young woman in the demure floor-length skirt of the era. In one hand she offered a tray with beer, with the other she inched up her skirt just enough to show...a shoe. Not a laced boot, but a low cut pump-style shoe called a "slipper."

The expert explained this would've been a VERY suggestive gesture in 1900. Imagine how easy to slip off that footwear to reveal a nearly-bare foot.

So we aren't ALL that far removed from the puritan "cover her up" era ourselves.
