  •  The press is fickle (5+ / 0-)

More fickle than a 15 yr old girl.

They were in love with Fred Thompson too. And Sarah palin. And Donald trump. I don't think they ever really cared for newt though, but his sugar daddy was willing to spend so much on them that they forgot how much they couldn't stand him for a while. Not long though.

And there was that short time when they thought Howard dean was just the bestest, until he said they should be a bit more responsible and they changed their mind because nobody tells them what to do.

So now they think rand Paul is just dreamy, but the prom isn't for AGES, so who knows what could happen?

he has a built in dedicated (shall we say) base, and is clearly good at getting attention.

He is clearly recognized as his daddy's heir, and those followers are his greatest strength. And his greatest liability.

No, the prom is not next week, but it's really not that far away either. Clearly both he and Hillary recognize that fact. It's going to be interesting, and I am not about the underestimate this one.

      •  If he gets his daddy's followers (0+ / 0-)

He'll get about as far as his daddy did.

Which is not far at all.

I'm not really expecting any of the current crop on either side to be the nominee. The electorate will change somewhat, things will happen, and frankly a lot of the people currently being promoted are just too old. Or too young.

If Christie loses weight, he'd be a favorite. Right now he just doesn't look the part, and looks are, to put it bluntly, as important as anything else to a big part of the electorate. He's also very much from New Jersey, and I don't know how well that will go over in some places.

The matchup I'd like to see is Christie and Schweitzer. Two totally different views, from opposite ends of the country, but both with a lot of crossover appeal.
