  •  Maybe you should lobby congress and make (7+ / 0-)

sure those rules are implemented. I'm sure with this congress, you'd get a lot of support.

Fact of the matter is, it doesn't MATTER what YOU think people should be buying. Sodas are legitimate purchases on SNAP benefits. It is allowed. If you don't like it, change the system. If you hurry, I'll bet you could get Paul Ryan to sponsor a bill that restricts SNAP recipients to buy nothing but rice and beans. I mean, so what if someone's kid is turning 5 years old next week, they shouldn't be able to use YOUR hard earned tax dollars for a 1/4 sheet cake, by god! Amirite?

I'd like to start a new meme: "No means no" is a misnomer. It should be "Only 'Yes' means yes." Just because someone doesn't say "No" doesn't mean they've given consent. If she didn't say "Yes", there is no consent.

I could, so that it didn't cover candy or gum or soda, but did cover things like soap, toilet paper, a can opener, stove fuel, and aluminum foil so you have a way to cook / save your food. I'd rather see it cover toothpaste than chewing gum.

But I also realize that one of the reasons why soda pop will always be on the Food Stamp Approved list is because Coca-Cola and PepsiCo and their ilk have the power in Washington DC.

can't afford lobbyists anymore. That could, someday, work against ConAgra, too.
