revolutions. One way to effect the change we want is to organize across diverse communities into viable cooperative businesses. Local food movements do this. Enterprises built along the model of the Mondragon Corporation are another. Coops provide a way for people to be employed but drop out of the purely capitalistic model. If people are shown in this very concrete way the benefits of the cooperative society vs the dog-eat-dog society things will change whether those on top want it or not. This is the kind of revolution I think we want to see and we can become a part of now.

The other revolution that begins with mobs in the streets ends with blood and destruction. That is not to say some mobbing in the streets isn't long overdue but I would suggest that the mechanisms to silence its effects are already in place. That is unless its effects are incredibly violent.

A general strike could shake things up, but who is that going to involve and what kind of alienation will ensue. A widespread narrowly targeted boycott could turn some heads. Those are my thoughts on the matter.

Force is the midwife of every old society pregnant with a new one. Marx
