    Economic conservatives fetishize markets, treating what they produce as desirable by definition, so they truly don't see unfairness and lack of opportunity as problems.  They see them as the "Will of the Market/God," and see people disadvantaged by it as morally deficient.  People who criticize the result and demand practical solutions are seen as blasphemers.  There's really no arguing with someone who doesn't even consider poverty to be a negative phenomenon.

    I demand that you prove you're alive.

      When a Conservative rails about the "liberal media", just point out that the media is a group of privately-owned, profit-seeking corporations.

      The coverage they provide is a result of The Free Market.

      Surely no good Conservative can disagree with the Free Market, can he?

        Then they figured out - like thirty years after the end of WW2 - that that wasn't going to work.

        Business doesn't distinguish between making money and taking money.
