  •  I love Freecycling! Thanks for posting this. (12+ / 0-)

I also discovered freecycling during a period when I had to dispose of the contents of several deceased relatives. Once I discovered it I was hooked!

I even "freecycle" during our neighborhood garage sale. My garage and driveway are clean as a whistle as my neighbors drag stuff back inside or load it up for Goodwill. I always think, why?

Giving things away is an amazing feeling of abundance for everyone involved. I once gave a stack of Utne magazines to an immigrant family learning English, a rusty old smoker got rehabbed by a church group, left over tiles and cabinets from a remodeling project went to a family who clearly didn't have much money ... flower pots, clothes, several TVs, mattresses, chairs, tables, canned goods, toiletries, cleaning supplies ... just about anything you would find in someone's house has gotten Freecycled from my garage.

I always include a flyer on neon paper that reminds people to "pay-it-forward" by Freecycling their own stuff.

I agree with you, Jamie. I don't care if someone is resourceful enough to put it on eBay. As long as they pick it up and it doesn't end up in the trash, I'm happy.
