  •  Ugh. You're probably right... (10+ / 0-)

My niece's husband is FDNY.  Yesterday I got into it with him on FB when he posted about the baby that got shot in Georgia, compared the story to the Trayvon Martin case and demanded to know where Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson are.  I called him on his racism, and he tried to say that he mentioned them because they were loudmouths, and "I didn't bring race into it, YOU did."

It's not the first time he's said racist crap but phrased it in a way that he thought gave him deniability.

I'm so tempted to mention this Fascist Baby Finster guy to him, but you know what?  Fuck him.  Let him broadcast his bullshit.

On the other hand, he's married to my niece, they have a baby, and I'd cause a war in my family if I tried to bring it to anyone's attention -- so I'm not going to rat him out to his supervisors.  I don't want my niece to be stuck supporting him.

But I'm sure as hell not warning him either.

A one-off post like that is a little different than months of racially charged invective like this guy was producing.

I mean, you can be not racist and dislike Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton (who in fact, pretty much are loudmouths, race aside). A single possibly-racially-tinged post isn't really the same thing as months and months of derogatory material against blacks and Jews like the guy in this diary was producing.

I'm kind of against firing people for non-work-related conduct (though it is legal). The guy in this diary, definitely fire him, no question. Your relative, though? For that?

      •  Unfortunately, it's not just once. (0+ / 0-)

He has a habit of posting things like that.  I can see your point about being more lenient if it were a one-off, but no, he has a history.
