    students accepted to Harvard are quite often nearly perfect (1590 or better out of the maximum possible 1600).

      you don't consider the writing section objective, even though a chunk of it is analyzing existing writing for mistakes?

      Also, you are way off on scores of Harvard admittees.  Per this site (and with similar results reported elsewhere), the middle 50% of admittees are as follows:

      Critical Reading: 690 - 790
      Mathematics: 700 - 800
      Writing: 690 - 790
