    here:

...let's not get complacent. There is nothing that the media elite and the proponents of Social Security cuts would like more than for us to let our guard down and say "phew, now we can relax because the Senate said they oppose chained CPI cuts to Social Security."  In fact, it would not surprise me at all if the reason that this amendment was allowed to the Senate floor by the Democratic leadership was that it might calm down the grassroots left and organizations like AARP and give us a false sense of security, resulting in less organizing, less protesting, while they form a new commission prepare the way for the cuts that they are clearly determined to impose.
That is EXACTLY what they want. We cannot let our guards down on this, ever.

Thank you for this blogathon, we need motivation to stay on top of the fight so we don't burn out. But we are going to have to do more than sign petitions and blog about this and vent our outrage online. I've been writing to a number of Senators and Congresspeople, as well as to the President about this--for months now--not one response have I gotten from my Democrats. Only weasel-worded responses from Republicans, who wanted to cut it to begin with (they can keep their "but we're going to help preserve it from the likes of Obama" memes, because that's a load of shit, too).

The Fix is in unless we rise up physically and there are so many of us that these people fear us.

It is time to #Occupy Media.

we need to get on the street, protest events and speeches, etc.  We have to disrupt and we also have to get the word out.  That is important.  Right now I am in spread the word mode.  Wake the people up.  Counter the propaganda. It worked when we pushed back about how SS does not contribute to the deficit.  But that was just one piece of the puzzle.
