  •  I Hear from Students I Taught 20 and 30+ (25+ / 0-)

years ago in my trad genre. Just had one this morning in fact. Once escaped a speeding ticket from an officer who had been another years before.

While my tradition is my family's, I started the music from outside the craft due to lack of working connections. So I had to spend some time proving myself in traditional solo competitions, reaching a top amateur level which says I can do basically everything well, but also that nobody important would ever remember me for my playing.

I learned how to teach from day 1 level to advanced amateur level in such a way as to leave the student with the best possible foundation for professional teaching and playing, and with the least possible handicaps. Most of the time it ends up with complimentary feedback to me from the professional teacher and that's the best any of us in the middle of the expertise food chain can ask for.

There were some times when I too was left uncredited and I have to confess it does hurt, but in performing arts there are times we can be left off a list of teachers when those given are all famous. There can be reasons it may be better for the new performer not to go into beginnings.

    I feel yer pain though.
