  •  Richard Wolff is an interesting guy (0+ / 0-)

I just read his book Democracy at Work: A Cure for Capitalism which discusses worker-owned businesses as an alternative arrangement for the production of goods and services. I don't know that much about it, but as the union movement seems not to have the place in the hearts of working people it once did, co-ops look like a possible grassroots alternative to create living wage jobs.

And I love his point about fighting wars. When it comes time to put flesh and blood on the line as a firefighter, cop or soldier it's not the wealthy doing that. Their riches and property are protected by "the masses." The great number of average people willing to defend the whole system that the wealthy benefit from ultimately secure its continuity with their sacrifice. This imposes an obligation upon the wealthy to support the basic well-being of average citizens.

There is a difference between a responsible gun owner, and one that's gotten far.
