  •  I'm probably one of the few people... (11+ / 0-)

    ... who loves bagpipe music.

I'm also practically a Celtic music fanatic.  :-)  [One exception: it took me some 20+ years, but I've learned to loathe Danny Boy.  I don't know why, other than I've just heard the song so often it's become trite and boring.]

I also love old folk music - and dancing - partly in connection to my genealogy research.  The Hardanger fiddle has an unusual sound because of the way it's strung.

Plus really old instruments that go back to the Neolithic Iron Age like the Lur, and natural instruments like the bukkehorn, and then there's the lyre.

Acoustic classical guitar music is just dreamy!  Can't listen to modern steel/electric guitars of heavy metal because everyone does the standard high-pitched angry notes and that rattles my left ear drum, so it's very painful to listen to, as is the steel guitar wavery crap from C&W music.  Ick.

Otherwise, I'm pretty much open to any kind of music.

    :-)

    •  I like bagpipe music! But the thought of being (6+ / 0-)

"piped up" in the morning as we saw on "Downton Abbey" this last season, would probably make me homicidal.  Oh well, that's what happens when you don't have access to COFFEE. ;-)

One of the greatest things I've ever seen and heard was here at our local Highland Games one year, when we had an Army marching band and a bagpipe brigade playing "Amazing Grace".  It is to this day one of the most awe-inspiring things I have ever witnessed.
