  •  Is this the beginning of the end? (7+ / 0-)

Evangelical Christians entered politics big time to reverse Roe v  Wade and have dominated Republican politics and the general public political discourse ever since. After the last election I started asking if this is the beginning of the end of that movement. Their participation in the political process via the Republican party can no longer deliver majority victories and their continued relevance outside the bible thumping states now depends on gerrymandering and vote suppression and judicial activism on the part of supreme court justices that say they oppose judicial activism (HA!). These demographic trends will only continue to make them increasingly irrelevant as the old, white, true believer haters die off. It seems inevitable that this part of the population will eventually say gbcw to the political process and retreat to their churches, as our society in general trends toward rejecting public displays of religiosity and we start treating faith as a private matter again. Or maybe they'll just go insane and start killing people randomly with assault weapons, hoping to trigger the end of days. "Going Postal" will be replaced with "Going Evangelical!."

we can prevent the violent uprisings of the religious crazies by getting dangerous weapons away from them.

They need to be nerfed. Seriously.
