    Yes, you said what I couldn't quite put into words.

    I wouldn't say it made it safe for Dems to endorse equality, it made it necessary for them to do so.

      on a Democrat's constituency.  The best Democrats can hope for from Dem's who represent red states and districts  is for them to keep their mouths shut.  I doubt they will face a congressional vote on the marriage equality issue anytime soon.
