I was at a meeting, just got back.

The evidence comes from 2 sources, one a recent tv interview where he said something similar to "I don't like it at all", but qualified it with a quick statement that he would only vote for it if Pres. Obama needed to make the cuts as part of the deficit negotiations in order to get something more favorable from the GOP on tax increases.
It was within the last couple of weeks, I'll find it and post it for you.

Second, are communications I've had with his office specifically asking, not just if he thought it was a bad idea, but would he commit to voting against any cuts to SS & Medicare benefits.  His office would not commit to the latter.

Hey, I'm more disappointed than you, he's my senator.  The problem is the same - corporate donors are running our government - both parties.  Sherrod may be having to take a bifurcated position on SS cuts because someone thinks it would help in negotiations with the GOP.

is that he's still personally opposed to these proposals, but don't go too far out on a limb expecting him to fight them.  He may disagree w/ Obama on these kinds of policies, but his opposition is going to be limited.
