    It was months of paperwork and phone calls, and sending out the death certificate. Lawyers, fees.
    And she really didn't have too much, working class, older female.

    Some people on the other end are kind and understanding, some are just plain officious gits. (That would be YOU, phone company!)

    I cannot imagine how hard it would be to be doing all of that for a same sex partner in the US. (Here in Canada I can imagine that there are still some holdouts that would make things far more painful than they need to be.)

    I am at least glad to hear you have other options to make up the economic shortfall. Grief and worrying about money at the same time.....Not a good thing.

    And talking to nice people when doing all the administrative crap that comes with a death in the family is so much easier.
