So if I understand this, gays are not likely to engage in sexual acts that could accidentally make someone pregnant.  Straight people are likely to make an accidental baby.  Therefore we have to lock up the straights in the confines of marriage because otherwise they might misbehave.

Thus it's important to society that straights get married and since gay folks are responsible there's no reason society should want them to.

Now why should society want infertile straights to get married?  The answer is that you want straight people to think they should and establish a societal norm.

I guess the next part of his argument is that since straight people might not want to get locked up like this society needs to give them advantages.  But society doesn't need to pay off gays by giving them things like tax breaks and since society would rather not give tax breaks to anyone we won't give them to gays.  In fact, if we thought straights would be responsible without being married, we could forget the whole thing.

Did I get that right??? Is that really the argument the house is making?

If your sex can't get you inconveniently pregnant -- they they can't punish you by outlawing abortion.

      You're spoiling it for everyone.

Because once you've said your (legal) marriage vows, it is virtually impossible to cheat on your spouse, let alone create a child with someone other than your spouse.

      Because:

If it's "legitimate" adultery, the body has ways of shutting that whole thing down.

Change will not come if we wait for some other person or some other time. We are the ones we've been waiting for. We are the change that we seek. Barack Obama
