  •  I don't have a traditional marriage (7+ / 0-)

    I'm a woman, and the primary wage earner (I earn more than double my husband's salary).  I'm an atheist.  We were childless by choice until 13 years into our marriage (changed our minds, but just one kiddo).  We got married at a justice of the peace.

    I have zero interest in traditional or religious-based marriage.  I like the economic benefits and the stability afforded by marriage, and that's it.  If there's an "approved purpose" to marriage, is someone going to challenge my right to be married if I disavow the approved purpose(s)?
