View Diary: The Iraq War wasn't the reason for the resurgent Left, Bush was (212 comments)

  •  Probably with Gore in the White House, (19+ / 0-)

the Twin Towers would still be standing.   I think Osama bin Laden found an opportunity to avenge the financial screwing the Lesser Bush did to the bin Laden group when he was affiliated with Harken Oil.  I think bin Laden knew the Lesser Bush wouldn't be paying attention and took his shot and was as surprised as we were that he succeeded.  And then the Lesser Bush and his puppet-master Cheney couldn't track him down.
The Lesser Bush cost this country about $6 trillion, almost 5,000 lives and 30,000 wounded.  And all he can do now is paint-by-numbers?  History will not treat him kindly and neither shall I.

    •  There are two sides to every ledger entry (13+ / 0-)

That $6 trillion in cost to Uncle Sam is booked by someone else as $6 trillion in revenues.  Depending on which side of that ledger you sit, Bush was either a disaster or he was successful beyond your wildest dreams.

The intrinsic nature of Power is such that those who seek it most are least qualified to wield it.

      •  China should send GWB a gift basket (3+ / 0-)

No one has benefited more from the disastrous GWB Presidency than the PRC. While we spilled uncountable amounts of blood and treasure on the War on Terror, China just grew stronger and stronger. Which makes it ironic how before 9/11 you heard a lot about the neocons trying to make China the next big menace (remember the spy plane incident?)

Bush inflicted, or allowed to be inflicted, not one, not two, but three trillion dollar calamities on America: 9/11, the Iraq War, and the 2008 market crash. Between Ronald Reagan and him, they've put the U.S. in such a financial hole it'll be a miracle if we ever pull out.

Unfortunately, the 1% still seem firmly in charge. Hope things change, but I'm doubtful.

    •  they were planning before Bush was (0+ / 0-)

in the W.H.  How do you explain the USS Cole or the embassy bombings?  Did Clinton fuck one of his sisters or wives?

      Difficult, difficult, lemon difficult.

    •  Bin Laden was not directly (0+ / 0-)

responsible for the attacks. He was an ideological leader and even if we had captured him prior to the attacks it wouldn't have stopped them. Khalid Sheikh Mohammed was the primary person behind the planning and execution of the 9/11 attacks.

If debt were a moral issue then, lacking morals, corporations could never be in debt.
