  •  Neither of the Pauls would be (4+ / 0-)

Shamed by such an association.  And I'm not so sure anymore that it would drive Americans away either.

    •  the Pauls won't run from him.... (6+ / 0-)

(like McCain refusing to denounce Gordon Liddy on the Letterman show in 08)

....but Jones shares in common with Limbaugh the lack of a desire to actually change anything. Left-of-center govt is good for his bottom line. He has no reason to water anything down or show any restraint.

But IMHO the more attention Alex Jones' views are given, the more people really will recoil from them. (See also: Palin, Angle, Akin, Mourdock, Berg, O'Donnell, Bachmann, etc.)

The 27%ers love CT nutters like Jones, but everybody else is terrified by these people flying the freak flag so openly (especially among the demographic groups the GOP is already famously getting their ass kicked with). The slicker politicians (ie the ones that win elections, like the Pauls, or Paul Ryan to take another example) are a little better about concealing/downplaying the crazy-wazy.

And any gop candidate who is connected to Jones will be destroyed in the primary. When he says Obama is leading al qaeda he means that Obama took over from bush. He's equal opportunity crazy.

If debt were a moral issue then, lacking morals, corporations could never be in debt.
