    Don't give away or lose your only copy or original forms of documentation.    They are called important papers and come with a recommendation to be stored in a safety deposit box for a reason.  

    Don't mean to be a smart ass, but you did lose your birth certificate and social security card, and you waited 40 years to replace your SS card.    From the public records department pov,  they must find people like you pretty frustrating too.  

    I do hope you get your paperwork straightened out soon and with as little aggravation as possible.  I know how frustrating complying with government regulation can be.   If you ever apply to unemployment, job training, and, in some instances get hired, you will not be served without your birth certificate or SS card either.  It is maddening, but it is what it is.

    What we need is a Democrat in the White House.
