  •  I read Hayduke's book, and was appalled (7+ / 0-)

by some of the stuff in it.  It was an interesting read, though, and furnished some jumping-off points for plotting when writing thrillers and spy stories.

My main thought was that I could not envision having the kind of time on my hands that would permit me to get up to the sorts of things Hayduke's protagonists got up to, simply because they had nothing to do on a given evening.  I always seem to have more than enough to do without getting into mischief.

Wonderful diary as usual, Ellid!  Thanks for an enjoyable read.

    •  Thanks! (4+ / 0-)

As I've gotten older, I've had less and less tolerance for Haydukian mayhem.  Better to let the past be the past.

      •  So what about Abby Hoffman, & "Steal this Book"? (3+ / 0-)

Probably the book most stolen from public libraries as well as a difficult book to find. (I bought a copy about 10 years ago.)

In Hoffman's memory, I will occasionally take the junk mail sent from banks, strip it of all identifying information, & send it back to them in the enclosed postage prepaid envelopes. But I haven't acted on any of his other suggested acts of resistance against corporate Amerika. Not that I haven't thought about it.

          Otherwise I recycle it.

Based off suggestions from others here on DKos, sometimes I put that I'm donating $500 or more, but then conveniently leave out the check.  Costs them more time and effort to try and track me down, at which point I get to ask them if they understand their candidate's positions.

Sometimes I find amusements where others find waste.

Better than what George Bernard Shaw allegedly wrote to someone who harassed him:

            "Dear Sir:

I have received your letter and am reading it in a small, private, enclosed room in my own home.

It is currently before me.  Soon it will be behind me....."
