  •  Love of my life (6+ / 0-)

I have a four-year-old Caridgan who I've had since he was 8 weeks old, and that little pain-in-the-ass is the most wonderful thing that's happened.

Don't have a whole lot to add - they're amazingly smart, energetic dogs who need exercise and mental stimulation, but the rewards are more than worth it.  My guy is the friendliest animal I've ever seen - he knows everybody in the neighborhood and greets them all with enthusiasm I've never experienced.  The homeless guys, the gangbangers, the shop owners, the kids at the Catholic school - he's definitely a herder and sees the whole of East Williamsburg, Brooklyn as his domain and likes to keep tabs on everything.  I usually let him lead me on walks, since he so clearly has an agenda.

The one thing I'll add is that as puppies, their ears are floppy like a Beagle's.  It takes a few weeks for the ears to come up on their own, and you get a week or two where they're at different levels.  Here's my guy Rory, at 8 weeks with ears down, at about 20 weeks with his ears half-and-half, and all growed-up with ears up.
