I have a question, it might be stupid, but here goes: at present Bernacke is buying bonds at about 83 billion a month to prop up the market as QE, does this effect social security and the government's ability to pay it out for the baby boomers?

... but creating 20 million jobs is no small feat.

        20,000,000 x 36,000 = 720,000,000,000 ($720 billion) per year

That's a lot of dough.  It's not impossible to come by -- we could get probably a third of it by taxing the richest 1,000 Americans a few percentage points more.  We could borrow another third.  Where does the third third come from?  Businesses aren't going to just start hiring out of the goodness of their non-existent hearts.

And even the first two thirds are politically dead in the water.

          I could go on.

! trillion spent on infrastructure is a bit over 6% of GDP, we used to spend that much on infrastructure during a period you may have heard of, the New Deal, a 50 year period that ended in the Reagan era.

1 trillion would create about 24-25 million jobs.

20 million jobs is no mean feat, its child's play.

Except when the Democratic President proposes creating 2 million jobs.

Same place most wealth comes from: labor productivity.

In standard economic theory labor is paid right at the level of their marginal productivity. You get more people producing more stuff from idle capital put into investment and you generate wages and profits. Both of which are taxable.

You seem to have fallen into some form of the Lump of Labor fallacy, that there is only so much work to go around and so increased labor just comes at the expense of existing wages or profits.

Here is a hint. There were more Americans working producing more stuff and more wealth in 1950 than 1850.
