    •  Still in the courts (8+ / 0-)

The group suing, Voces de la Frontera, are a lovely and tenacious bunch and they've got a great legal team.  The GOP withheld documents even after court orders.  A large fine had them cough them up, so the court thought, but Voces kept finding documents they hid so finally the court subponead the computers (which the Republicans initially refused to cough up claiming they were "lost") and, holy cow, as I diaried a bit ago, there were plenty of shenanigans including damaged hard drives and programs to permanently erase files.

Voces asked for more time so their forensic expert to see if they can recover anything from the damaged and (forbidden) erasure programs.  Permanent erasure software is forbidden on state owned computers, as these were, because of transparency and sunshine laws.  They were given additional time.

I'm hoping they come up with a ton of documents revealing illegal activity and that the court itself will redraw the maps.

      Stay tuned.

Fake candidates nominated by the GOP for the recalls: 6 out of 7. Fake signatures on the recall petitions: 4 out of 1,860,283.

      •  Happy thoughts (0+ / 0-)

I am happy forensic investigators are working this. The only real way to permanently destroy information a computer's hard drive is to disassemble the hard drive, remove the platters, and break them into pieces. I have also recommended nailing the removed but intact hard drive with a drill press three or four times.

If the Governor's Flying Monkeys failed to do these things we're good. All the stuff that was ever on those drives can and ought to be recovered and published!
