    have power to do anything other than recommend? Because as welcome as it may be to have all the election abuses of the past few cycles publicized, Republicans are shameless. They won't stop doing it until someone forces them to stop, and that means vacations at the Crobar Hotel, since they seem to accept fines as CDB. Commission recommendations without attached enforcement powers are flyspecks on paper to them.

    They've already accomplished most of what they wanted to (overwhelming control of statehouses) and it will take a long time to undo that. This is welcome, but I don't think it's going to cause real change - especially not in time for 2014.

      Obama appointed a commission to tell us what we already know and create the illusion that something's being done about it, to avoid actually doing something about it. This issue calls for a DoJ investigation, not a blue ribbon commission of fake pious-sounding RW & centrist lawyers who will be invited to be on Charlie Rose in 6 months to rend their garments.
