    Stu Rothenberg is not the most reliable of analysts on House races. Last year, he called the redistricting maps "a wash," which is false, as I pointed out in October, and afterward.

    That said, it will be hard for Democrats to retake the House, on the general grounds that the President's party usually loses seats at midterm elections time. Exceptions occur, for instance in 1998 when Clinton was popular and the GOP majority overreached severely. But on those general grounds, the hill is fairly steep to climb.

    •  Well, Obama is able to campaign (0+ / 0-)

      That makes he can help Democratic candidates win elections in tight races.  Just because Obama has a bit of unpopularity in certain states doesn't mean he shouldn't campaign.  Obama's "unpopularity" is of those who don't live in reality and assume their GOP Congressman/Congresswoman is actually doing his/her job when in fact they're screwing up the country even more.
